Palm Pre Gestures Podcast, New Apps Spotted!

Gotta love the folks over at SprintGurus, Coal posted yet another Internal Palm Pre Podcast for us Pre-enthusiasts to enjoy. This time is all about Gestures. The gestures mentioned in the video was the Back gesture (Swiping right to left) which takes you back one step in any application and the double tap zoom, just like it sounds, it zooms in and out on webpages.
We also spotted a few new apps shown during the video. We see the App Catalog, which is the bag with the Palm logo on it. The Youtube app.
The app with the Sprint logo could be some sort of Account Management or a webclip to the Sprint homepage. And lastly, we got Documents to Go and handy Adobe Reader.

Palm Pre VS New iPhone Specs

We thought it would interesting to compare the confirmed Palm Pre specs to the rumored next generation iPhone specs that were recently leaked on the Chinese forum Chinese forum Weiphone.
Although the next-gen iPhone specs that were leaked haven’t been confirmed, they do seem very plausible so we have no reason at the moment at least to believe they aren’t true. Not all specs were leaked but we’ve compared what we know so far.

Tethering?: Yes Not Announced
As you can see above the rumored new iPhone appears to have more memory and a larger display, but at the same time the device is larger than the Pre so that’s to be expected. The Pre is on par with the iPhone in most other areas. In the end however, I have a feeling that the physical keyboard and tethering offered by the Pre is going to seal the deal for a lot of people.

Get Ready, Palm May Announce Pre Release Date on May 19th

Palm and Sprint are reportedly going to “make a big announcement” in the Wall Street Journal on May 19th. I think that we all have an idea of what that “Big Announcement” probably is. That’s right, finally a release date for the Pre! If this report is true it would pretty much fall inline with all of the other rumors we have been hearing over the past week or so about an early June release date.wall_street_journal_palm_pre

It looks like the Pre is all boxed up and ready to go, and the TouchStone Kits are on their way to Best Buy, now just release the damn things already!

Palm Pre packaging and materials for release

Well we are certainly a lot closer to the launch date of the Palm Pre, and we know this as images have appeared online of the Palm Pre packaging and the materials. There was no information to go with the images, but they are enough to get us exited.

The Palm Pre packaging and materials images have come from MaxPDA.com, the shots show us the box from all angles as well as a look at the information card. This card explains a little about what we can expect to see in the box.

In the box, you will get the phone, a battery, microUSB cable, phone pouch, stereo headset and a travel charger. To check out all the latest images of the Palm Pre packaging, head over to MaxPDA.com.
